The third full lockdown in England has created a highly uncertain situation for businesses, and many self-employed people are concerned about keeping their businesses afloat. The Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) was recently extended to provide two more grants for November 2020 to April 2021. Applications are currently open for the third SEISS grant, which covers November 2020 to January 2021.
The eligibility criteria for the third SEISS grant is largely similar to the first and second SEISS grants offered in 2020.
Self-employed individuals or members of partnerships must be currently trading but impacted by reduced demand, or be temporarily unable to trade, due to coronavirus in order to claim SEISS.
SEISS applicants now need to declare they “reasonably believe” there will be a “significant reduction” in trading profits due to the pandemic.
Claimants must also declare that they intend to continue trading to get the third SEISS grant. »
