Those who are working can usually get tax-free childcare, alongside those on sick leave or annual leave.
In addition, the payment is made to those on shared parental, maternity, paternity or adoption leave.
The child concerned must be 11 or under and usually must live with the parent who is claiming.
The young person stops being eligible for tax-free childcare on September 1, after their 11th birthday.
