Experts have said this could mean claiming significant years of credits, worth £2,340 of an annual state pension.
Of course, childcare arrangements may have changed recently, due to the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis such as shielding and social distancing.
However, bearing this in mind, the Government has provided further guidance.
Its website reads: “Since March 2020, your normal caring arrangements may have been affected by coronavirus.
“If you have provided care in a different way, for example, over the telephone or video, you can still apply for NI credits for the financial year 2019/20 and 2020/21.”
