“Applications are made by the Home Office app or website taking around 20 minutes.
“Proof of identification will be needed, typically a passport or ID card together with proof of residence. In most cases, the Home Office will be able to track residency against tax records. "Where that is not possible, the Home Office is adopting a very flexible approach, accepting proof of residence from a utility bill, council tax bill, a visit to a vets or dentist and even use of supermarket club cards.”
In recent months, the Home Office assured late applications would be treated fairly.
Nadine welcomed this but warned it is also "entirely meaningless".
